The Titan's Curse

It's official! The title for Percy Jackson 3 will be THE TITAN'S CURSE. Thanks to everyone who sent in title ideas -- and I got hundreds of them! In the end, however, I came up with The Titan's Curse myself, which is not something anyone else could've created based on the synopsis I posted on the web, but once you read the book I think you'll agree it's a very appropriate title. Menacing? Ominous? You bet! But don't worry, I've made sure to keep the same sense of humor and pace of action as in the two previous books. I'm very happy with the way the story turned out.

An update on the progress of the book: I just got the manuscript back from my editor and I'm making my final revisions. They shouldn't take very long. The book will then go into production, which involves many months of copy-editing, typesetting, cover design, marketing, etc. It's a long process, but the book should be available next spring, 2007. When I get an exact publication date, I will post it on the website. Our excellent cover artist John Rocco (who did the Sea of Monsters cover and the paperback Lightning Thief cover) is working on sketches for The Titan's Curse. As soon as we have a final version, I will post it on the web.

Hints about the story: You can expect to meet Artemis, Apollo and Aphrodite, along with several gods from the previous books. There is a whole host of new mythological monsters. Well, they're thousands of years old, so they're not technically "new" . . . Oh, you know what I mean. Grover gets an enticing new lead on the fate of Pan. Thalia, daughter of Zeus, is very much a major character in the book. Annabeth gets in some serious trouble. Some important new half-bloods join the camp. And much, much more. Stay tuned to the website for more details.

Have a great summer and happy reading!
